Yogesh Singh appointed Vice Chancellor of Delhi University – Times of India

New Delhi: Vice Chancellor of Delhi Technological University Professor Yogesh Singh has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University. Along with Singh, President Ram Nath Kobind, who is a visitor, appointed Professor Neelima Gupta as the Vice Chancellor of another central university, Dr. Hari Hari Singh Gaur University, Sagar. The Ministry of Education issued a letter in this regard on Wednesday.

Singh is serving his second term as VC of DTU. He will be the 23rd Vice-Chancellor of DAB, replacing Professor Yogesh Tyagi. Tyagi, who was suspended last October on charges of irregularities and negligence of duty, resigned on March 21, 2021, the last day of his term. Tyagi was the first VC in the history of the country to face such a move. Pro-VC PC Joshi has been in charge ever since.

In April this year, Yogesh Singh was re-appointed as DTU VC for the second term. He joined DTU in 2001 and before that he was the Director of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology from 2011-20-201 Net, Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and Dean of Guru Technology from 2011 to 2011. , Or IP University from 2001 to 2006. Since October 03, 2019, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of the National Evaluation and Recognition Council

Singh holds an MTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering and a PhD in Computer Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, Haryana. He has supervised 2 PhDs in the field of software engineering and has published more than 250 publications in international and national journals / conferences.

The implementation of various projects under the National Education Policy 2020 will be some of the major challenges that Singh will face, such as the completion of multiple admissions programs for undergraduates under the age of four, as well as the recruitment of teachers. A section of teachers and students have been opposing the four-year program as well as NEP 2020.

The Indian president had earlier in July approved the appointment of 12 vice-chancellors, including from the central Haryana University, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad. After two appointments on Wednesday, VC posts are vacant in eight central universities, including Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Gupta is currently the Vice Chancellor of Tilka Manji Bhagalpur University – (TMBU), Bihar. He was earlier the Vice Chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur.

Central University of South Bihar (Gaya), Manipur University, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur were also new universities.
