On December 16 last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lit the Golden Victory Torch from the Eternal Flame at the National War Memorial.
He also lit four flames that had to be traversed in different directions. Since then, these four flames have spread across the length and breadth of the country, including Siachen, Kanyakumari, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Langewala, Kutch Ran, Agartala.
The flames were taken to important battlefields and to the homes of 1971 war heroism award winners and veterans.
