For universities where both UG and PG courses are run under the annual plan, the committee has decided to promote all the first year students to the second year.

The first year results of all such students will be prepared on the basis of their performance in the second year examinations when they take them.

The universities that conduct the examination for the first year students in 2020 will prepare the second year results of such students on the basis of their performance in the first year.

After this the students will be promoted to the third year. Second year students who did not take the exam last year will also take the exam.

However, the universities which could not conduct the examination for the first year in 2020, the students will have to appear in the second year examination through OMR-based examination. On the basis of their performance in the examination they will be admitted to the third year.

Both state and private universities will have to conduct the OMR-based exam which consists of multiple choice questions before August 13.

OMR is optical mark recognition (also called optical mark reading) and is the process of capturing human-marked data from document forms such as surveys and tests. These are used to read the questionnaire, multiple choice test paper in the form of rows or shaded areas.

All the results are to be declared by August 31. According to official sources, under the semester system, for the second semester students who did not give their exams, all the universities will prepare the result on the basis of their performance in the first semester examinations. The same formula will be applicable for all UG and PG students who are in odd semesters.
