UOM will offer five emerging engineering courses from this academic year – Times of India

Mysore: The University of Mysore (UOM) has become the first government university in the state to get permission from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to launch engineering courses. AICTE has approved the proposal sent by UOM to launch five courses. In the first year, the university will introduce five emerging engineering courses.

“AICTE has allowed the university to introduce BE in Civil Environmental Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Computer Science and Design and Biomedical and Robotic Engineering,” said GM.


The total dining will be 300 seats. The university will hand over 150 seats to KEA for admission under merit quota. The remaining seats will be filled through self-financing.

“We received AICTE approval on July 27,” he said.

Meanwhile, as per the government order, UOM has decided to build three government first class colleges as component colleges of the university. “Hettur, Terakanambi and Holy Mysuru colleges will be developed as constructive colleges,” he said.


Hemant Kumar explained that the NAAC team could visit the university after the second week of September.

“The university’s Manasa community radio station is also now ready for inauguration,” he said.

Meanwhile, state higher education minister CN Ashwath Narayan will inaugurate several new buildings, including the Career Hub, a research pundit dormitory built on the second floor of the center at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore, under the State Expeditionary Education Campaign (RUSA). Excellence, new academic department building of Hasan Postgraduate Center, Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, new building of Yuvraj College built under Rusha etc.


He said, “All these programs will be conducted keeping in mind the Covid-1 prot protocol.”
