The goal of OE102: SAMASADHANI PROVESHIKA COURSE is to build a confidence in the minds of the students that with the help of these computational tools they can understand Sanskrit lessons with some effort.

The Department of Sanskrit Studies, since its inception in 2006, has been engaged in the study of Indian grammar theory with a computational perspective. Student-led research over the last 15 years has resulted in a computational platform that hosts a number of computational tools for accessing and understanding Sanskrit texts.
Professor Amba Kulkarni, co-ordinator of the course, said: “On the one hand, we are looking at how to use computer technology to overcome language barriers, how to reduce the time it takes to learn a new language, and on the other hand, we are exploring IGT to create these computational tools.”
The department has collaborated with Professor Gerard Huet, a mathematical linguist as a computer scientist, from Inrea, a prestigious research institute in France.
The collaboration between these two groups has resulted in a joint system that can analyze any Sanskrit text. This led to the development of this innovative course, where conventional methods of teaching were combined with modern technology without compromising the ‘understanding’ of Sanskrit texts.
The course will be conducted by a four-member team comprising Dr. Ar Arjun of Manipal University, Dr. Pavankumar Satuluri of Chinmoy University, Professor Huet of Kochi, Hyderabad University and Prof. Amba Kulkarni.
The course reviewed the good response, of which 250 students from abroad, from India and students from the University of Hyderabad registered. Students have different backgrounds from fine arts and humanities to engineering and medicine; They range in age from 20 to 80 years, geographically from Fiji to California all over the world.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor BJ Rao has considered the introduction of this course as a celebration where Panini is being rediscovered through modern computational equipment. According to him, this course will be a trendsetter to understand how language analysis, the rigor of calculation and scientific methods can be used to understand thinking as well as to construct ideas through language.
Professor Varkhedi, Vice-Chancellor, Ramtech, Sanskrit University, Kulaguru Kalidas, noted that the computational platform is based on the analysis, generation and knowledge of Indian culture phrases that have been used in grammar, logic and theology for nearly three millennia. Acts as a test bed.
