Kirori Mall College (KMC) has deducted maximum off.755% for admissions in Political Science (H), BCom (H), Math (H) and B Com. Ramanujan College is also not far behind and has set a 99% cut-off for admission in Applied Psychology (H), followed by BCom (H) with 98.5%.
Manoj Sinha, principal of Aryabhatta College, said, “Most of the colleges have cut slightly more than in 2020 due to the fear of admission due to higher pass in board exams this year. Aryabhata College set the highest cut-off for Psychology (H) at 98.59%, followed by Economics (H) and 96% for both English and Political Science (H).
For the consistently high cut-offs for political science and psychology, Sinha is due to the fact that these two courses are in high demand in terms of a wide range of career opportunities. “Candidates with degrees in political science can choose courses related to international relations and public policy. In addition, a degree in political science equips students with the skills to be political analysts, commentators. They can expect a career in journalism. The issue helps them to better prepare for the Civil Service Examination and other state-level Public Service Commission examinations, ”said Sinha, a professor of political science.
Regarding the high cut-off for psychology, Sinha explained that a limited number of colleges in UA are offering subjects. “There are about 11 colleges across the university offering Psychology (H) programs and three of them offer Applied Psychology. Also, most of the colleges are for women which restricts the admission of male candidates, ”Sinha said.
