The government has asked all District Education Officers (DEOs) to form a Covid Monitoring Cell at the district level and to appoint a senior officer as Covid Compliance Officer as soon as possible.
Covid Compliance Officers will ensure the implementation of the Covid Protocol in the school and collect the daily attendance of students in Class 9 to 12 and submit it to OSEPA on a daily basis.
The order said, “If any incident involving Kovid occurs in the district, the signed person will be informed without delay on the same day.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary of Schools and Mass Education, Satyabrata Sahu has issued a new SOP for the functioning of schools.
In a letter to all DEOs, Sahu said teachers need to make sure that students who come to school must wear masks. If a student comes to school without a mask, the school administration should not allow the student to enter the premises.
At the entry point, all students must ensure thermal screening and hand sanitation, he said. Sahu urged officials to ensure social distance within the classroom and not allow any students, teachers, non-teaching staff to have mild symptoms like cold, sneezing and fever.
The above instructions came in the wake of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s Covid-1 review meeting, where he said that educational institutions would be held accountable if reports of negligence surfaced. He directed the local administration to form special teams to regularly inspect the educational institutions.
