The Prime Minister will launch seven medical colleges in UP simultaneously – Times of India

Siddharth Nagar: As a major blow to the state’s health infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate seven new autonomous medical colleges on October 25, from Buddhabhumi in Siddharth Nagar.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was here to oversee the preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit, said it was in line with the state government’s commitment to provide the best possible healthcare to the people of the state.


Apart from the medical college in Siddhartha Nagar, six more medical colleges have been inaugurated in Deoria, Ita, Hardoi, Gazipur, Mirzapur and Pratapgarh.

“Overall, the opening of seven medical colleges will increase the number of seats to 700 MBBS in Uttar Pradesh and it will be a record. We are already number one in implementing 44 central projects. The Chief Minister further said that earlier there was only BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur-Basti zone and now AIIMS is also ready and it is expected that Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate it in a month and a half.

“There will be no shortage of doctors in the state in the coming years,” he said. “These medical colleges will be named after great people. Deoria Medical College is named after Maharshi Debrah Baba; Pratapgarh Medical College after Sonelal Patel and Eta Medical College after Birangana Abanti Bai Lodhi.


“The medical college in Siddharthnagar has been built under the Prime Minister’s Health Protection Scheme and is getting a state medical college under the direction of Prime Minister Modi. Construction of a medical college in the slums started last year and two years ago in Bahraich and now the colleges are conducting the second batch of MBBS. A medical college has also been started in Ayodhya, ”said the Chief Minister.

Siddharthnagar Medical College is named after Madhav Prasad Tripathi, popularly known as “Madhab Babu”, a popular freedom fighter, politician and the first president of the Uttar Pradesh BJP. All the arrangements for hospital, hostel, staff accommodation have been completed in this medical college and faculty has also been appointed.

The Chief Minister said that through this medical college, not only Siddharthnagar, but also Balrampur, Maharajganj and neighboring Nepal will get the best medical facilities here.
