The LMC of the era pays tribute to CDS Rawat and other army officers – the Times of India

New Delhi: A condolence meeting was held at Ira University Lucknow Medical College on Monday to pay tributes to Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat, President of Defense Wives Welfare Association and First Lady of the Armed Forces Madhulika Rawat and other officers.

Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and 13 others were killed in an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter crash on December 8, 2021.

Dr. MMA Faridi, Principal, Lucknow Medical College, Ira addressed the mourners. Everyone present during his speech became very emotional and complete silence descended on the hall when Dr. Faridi recounted the tragic incident that took place near Kunur in Tamil Nadu. In memory of the martyred soldiers. Faridi lit 14 lamps and paid homage to the departed soul. He described CDS Rawat as a very brave, honest and just officer who made a number of changes in the command of the army including the establishment of the Gint Command of the Armed Forces. His service will be remembered forever. The late Mrs. Madhulika Rawat, who served as the President of the DWWA, devised a number of schemes for the welfare of the wives and widows of retired Army members.


“The country has lost brave soldiers and it will be difficult to fill this void. But they will live forever in our hearts,” concludes Dr. Faridi.

The mourning meeting was organized on a hybrid basis due to the Kovid protocol. About 70 officials from Ira University, as well as principals and ministers from Ira LMC, nurses and other healthcare workers were physically present at the prayer meeting. Dr. Indra V, Principal, Ira College of Nursing, Dr. Riaz Mehadi, Dean, Faculty of Allied Sciences, Dr. Siddharth Chandel, Medical Superintendent, Col. (Retd.) Ajit Kumar Srivastava, HOD Community Medicine, Prof. , Dr. Ghazala Zaidi, Assistant Registrar, Dr. Mohini Chaurasia, Principal College of Pharmacy, Dr. Naveen Singh, Hospital Administrator and several retired Army members including Manik. Captain Nazakat Hossain, Hon. Captain KP Yadav, Hon. Subedar Major Rajbir Singh Yadav, Subedar AM Ansari, Bilal Ahmed of Research Cell and other eminent persons lit lamps and laid wreaths.
