The Union Minister said the global industrial revolution has created new models of business and development for the world and IIT Bhubaneswar must create such models, help create jobs and solve modern day problems.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Pushpagiri Lecture Hall Complex and Rashikullah Hall of Residence at the institute here. The current lecture hall complex has three buildings, while Rashikula Hall is an00-seat-hostel, the institute said in a statement.
The first of the buildings is now ready for management and a mini-complex consisting of 10 inverted classrooms is under construction, the notification said.
In the future, three more buildings with circular structures are likely to be added to the lecture hall complex.
Chief stressed the need for greater cooperation between institutions to address local and environmental issues in disaster-prone states like Odisha, which would become a role model for the entire nation.
“By focusing on world-class research and innovation, our IITs have truly become a symbol of India’s progress and success in higher education.
“Our IITs are among the top universities in the world and are contributing to global technological needs,” the Union Minister said.
On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Skill Development Institute, Bhubaneswar, and IIT, Bhubaneswar to share skills and enhance skills development activities for low-performing, unemployed and disadvantaged youth.
Professor Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar, said the central government has so far sanctioned Rs 1,260 crore for the construction of infrastructure in two phases.
Kumar said the current complex যেখানে which has facilities for lecture halls with a capacity of 60, 120 and 240 seats-could be used for conventional classes and could also serve as an e-classroom.
Kumar said the inverted classroom complex is one of the largest in the country and can be used for design, analysis and recruitment for conventional lectures, group or individual work.
The lecture hall complex has been named the inspiration from the historic Pushpagiri Vihara, an important Buddhist site that was a major center of learning.
The residential hall is named after the river Rusikulya, which is well known for its Olive Ridley turtle habitat near its mouth.
