Teacher Eligibility Test Question Paper Leak Case: 20 More Under Special Task Force Scanner – Times of India

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UPSTF) investigating the leak of Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) question papers has dropped 20 more persons, whose names came to light during the investigation and interrogation on Monday, after 29 accused were arrested in a day. STF sleuths suspect that these 20 people were involved in leaking UPTET papers. The recruitment test to be held on Sunday has been canceled as the leaked paper has been confirmed. The STF has sent notices to the officials of the private sector conducting the recruitment test as well as some clerks of the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) to appear to record their statements. Senior officials investigating have revealed that the names of 20 more people came up during the grilling of those arrested on Sunday.

STF officials said that out of the 29 arrested, 14 were solicitors, one was an examinee, one was a primary teacher, three were gangsters from different gangs, and another 10 candidates were involved in rigging racket by providing various exam question papers.


Among those arrested were 18 from Prayagraj, four from Lucknow, three from Shamli, two from Ayodhya and one from Ambedkar Nagar and Kaushambi. Photocopies of the question papers were recovered from their possession and matched with the UPTET papers, ADG, Law and Order, Prashant Kumar said. Rajendra Kumar Patel, who was arrested from Prayagraj, revealed that he had contacted the owners of the test center and provided ‘Bluetooth devices’ to the test takers for cheating.

Another arrested accused, Satya Prakash Singh, said that he had arranged for a solution for his relatives Abhishek Singh and Renu Kumari and paid Rs 2.5 lakh to Ajay Dev Singh Patel, who arranged the settlement. During interrogation, arrested accused Roshan Singh Patel from Kaushambi revealed that he met Prabhat Kumar in Balia in 2018 who told him that he solved and provided various exam question papers. Prabhat introduces him to Santosh Kumar of Lucknow who sent him the UPTET paper.

Similarly, Mahesh Chandra, who was arrested from Ayodhya, revealed to the authorities that Ramesh Kumar, a private school teacher, arranged for the solicitors. Mahesh contacted Pappu Arya, a candidate for whom Kumar had arranged a solicitor Ramesh Kumar for Rs 1 lakh at the Uttarakhand TET held on November 26 this year.


Several other names also came up during the interrogation, STF detectives said.

SSP, STF, Hemraj Meena said, “STF is looking for all those whose names have been revealed by the arrested accused during interrogation.”
