On January 21, the Prime Minister announced that a granite statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose would be erected at India Gate soon.

“At a time when the entire nation is celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, I am happy to announce that his granite statue will be erected at the India Gate. It will be a symbol of indebtedness to India,” the Prime Minister said in a tweet.
The Prime Minister said that a hologram statue of the freedom fighter would be unveiled on January 23 until the huge statue of Netaji Basu was completed.
“Until the huge statue of Netaji Basu is completed, a hologram statue of him will be present at the same place. I will unveil the hologram statue on January 23, Netaji’s birth anniversary,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
In a major development, sources said that from this year, R-Day celebrations will start on January 23 – the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (this is the 125th year). It will end on January 30, the day Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated.
According to official sources, Netaji’s statue will be 28 feet high and 6 feet wide.
Also, the flame at India Gate will be extinguished after 50 years and the Republic Day run will join the flame at the nearby National War Memorial (NWM).
