sidhu: Me and Channi are two bodies but one soul: Sidhu | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has often kept his own party government in tentacles with his demands, has made a strong show of solidarity with Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channy by commenting on “two bodies but one soul”.
The foreign cricketer-politician has questioned the Channi government’s decision in the past. It was after Sidhu’s fierce opposition that APS Deol, who was appointed by the Channi government as Advocate General of the state, decided to resign.
Sidhu also questioned the appointment of the state’s director general of police, in addition to taking action against drug mafias and seeking justice in contempt cases.
On Tuesday, the Punjab Congress tweeted Sidhu’s speech at an event where he described himself and Channi in the warmest language.
“I and Chief Minister @CharanjitChanni are two bodies but one soul” – @Sheriontop, President of Punjab Provincial Congress Committee, “the tweet said.

In the past, Sidhu’s remarks have often been blamed for infighting in the state Congress. In his latest speech, however, Sidhu said that he and Channi would work together for the welfare of farmers, businessmen, youth and other sections.
Significantly, the statement came after Rahul Gandhi recently met with the top leadership of Punjab. The Congress hopes that Channy, the state’s first Dalit chief minister, along with Sidhu, who hails from the Jat-Sikh community, will be able to win the upcoming state assembly elections.
