RN Ravi resigns as Naga interlocutor | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi on Wednesday resigned from the post of negotiator for the Naga peace talks, his home ministry said, adding that his resignation was accepted immediately.
The Naga rebel group has been holding peace talks with the NSCN-IM since Sunday.
“The resignation of Shri RN Robi as the negotiator of the Naga peace process, which was submitted to him today, has been accepted by the Government of India immediately,” a Home Ministry spokesperson said.
Robbie was appointed Governor of Nagaland in July 2019 and he continued his role as a negotiator on behalf of the Central Government.
However, NSCN-IM has refused to negotiate with him since last year, accusing him of trying to sabotage the peace process.
Robbie was transferred as the governor of Tamil Nadu earlier this month.
The central government has already appointed AK Mishra, a former special director of the intelligence bureau, to negotiate peace with the Naga group.
Mishra has resumed talks with the Naga rebel group.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Bishwa Sharma and his Nagaland counterpart Nephew Rio met NSCN-IM general secretary Thuingaleng Muiva in Dimapur on Tuesday.
Robi signed a framework agreement with Muiva on August 3, 2015 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a major step towards a final settlement.
After decades of insurgency in Nagaland, the Ceasefire Agreement was sealed.
However, no progress was made in the peace talks as NSCN-IM wanted a separate flag and constitution for Nagaland, which the central government rejected.
