Residential school hostels in Assam will reopen on November 1 – Times of India

Guwahati: All residential school hostels in Assam will be fully open from November 1.

The latest order issued by the state education department said that hostels for students in classes I to VIII would be reopened from November 1 and students in classes IX and XI would be allowed to enter the hostels from October 19. Undergraduate (UG) and final year students postgraduate (PG) classes are already housed in hostels.

Education department sources said the remaining UG and PG class students will also be able to join their hostel before November 1. “Due to the improved Covid-1 situation, the Government of Assam, after due consideration of all parameters, is pleased to inform that hostels in residential schools / day boarding schools have been allowed to operate for Class IX and XI from 19/10/2021 and Class I From 8th grade. It further warns that all protocols of safety guidelines in terms of Covid-1 of must be strictly followed. Although physical classes for the primary level (I to VIII) will resume on October 19, there has been some delay in reopening the hostels to monitor the situation. Ratul Chandra Goswami, general secretary of the Assam State Primary Teachers Association (ASPTA), said, “We want special government monitoring of hostels because schoolgirls may not remember to maintain social distance.”

The education department, however, clarified that if the positivity rate in a district goes above 2% on a given day, the DC of the concerned district will close it in consultation with the Director of Mission, National Health Mission, Assam. Educational institutions.
