Reopen schools for 10th and 12th classes, demands academics – Times of India.

Nagpur: The call for reopening of schools for at least 10th and 12th classes is on the rise, with some school associations advancing and issuing ultimatums to the authorities. It is being argued by school management and educators that 10th and 12th grades are important years for any student, and physical education is very important for this.

Sanjay Taide-Patil, president of the Maharashtra English School Trustees Association (MESTA), has issued a public statement that they will reopen the schools themselves from January 17. While this may be a pressure tactic to force the government to review the reopening plan, the truth is that schools are becoming more vocal about their views at this time.

Sachin Kalbande, president of the RTE Foundation and trustee of the school, said, “On Thursday, we will meet the district collector and issue a memorandum for reopening. Our position is clear that the tenth and twelfth classes will have to reopen because the board exams are less than two months away. It is not possible to finish the course in such a short time without going to the physical class. ” Kalband added that most students do not have access to online learning platforms, thus keeping them out of the academic loop. “We cannot have this biased education system where only privileged children have access. Everyone should be able to go to school in physical mode on a voluntary basis and that decision should be left to the local authorities. This statewide ban on physical classes is wrong, ”Kalbande said.

Some CBSE schools in the city also felt that it was not good to stop physical classes. Not wanting to speak on the record, at least two principals and a trustee said there are many parents who want to send their children to school.

“They now realize that their children are lagging behind in education due to online education. This virtual mode is just like completing a formality, but does the child really grab something? As a principal I keep reviewing progress and can say that about 10% of children can keep up with what is being taught. Otherwise, they either turn off the camera or mentally zone out during class, ”said the principal.

A trustee said the reopening of the school brought much-needed fees. “We were struggling to raise the fees and fortunately, due to the physical reopening, the parents started paying. Again in online mode, it’s getting interrupted, “said Trustee.
