Students are facing dental problems related to OMR sheets and an MCQ format paper, he added. “Recently, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a circular in an attempt to alleviate the anxiety and trauma faced by students, which answers the most common questions. However, the ultimate responsibility rests with the schools to ensure that the students feel comfortable in the Term-1 format, ”said Wattal.
Sanyam Bharadwaj, Controller of Examinations, CBSE, said, “The OMR sheets that students have to deal with during the Term-1 exams are a bit different from the conventional format. Thus, to avoid confusion, the board has taken an active step by publishing a circular explaining the OMR sheet. ”
Filling the OMR sheet
Wattal says repeated practice sessions are the only way to deal with any confusion. “Some of the problems that students face are understanding the basic necessity of trying to answer an MCQ paper on an OMR sheet,” he adds.
Bharadwaj says that after each question there are four circles, a box and a final circle. The first four circles marked (a), (b), (c), and (d) represent the answer choices. Students must color the circle they want to mark as an answer and specify their choice in the box in the same row. If a student gets confused and paints in two circles, the choice he will make in the box will be final, ”he said.
After darkening the circle of his answer choice, the student has to write the option in the box. “If students darken the answer choice circle but leave the box blank, then the question will be considered unnecessary. However, if an answer circle is not colored, but a choice is specified in the box, it will be evaluated. Answering in the box will be considered final, ”Bharadwaj said.
Bharadwaj said, “All OMRs have a standard format, with space for answering a total of 60 questions. This is regardless of the number of question papers. Students must mark their answers in the numbered place on the OMR sheet which matches the number of the question mentioned in the question paper. ”
Don’t try a question
Bharadwaj said that in the OMR sheet, a final circle is given in front of the box related to each question. “If a student does not want to answer the question, he can only paint this final circle,” he said. Further, if three, i.e. four circles, boxes and the last circle are left blank, it will be considered that the question was not attempted.
