“Rahul’s Paradise, Fake Gandhis”: BJP Mocks Farm Laws Parliament Protest

Winter Session: Protests by Congress leaders in Parliament; Today 3 farm law repeal bill has been passed

New Delhi:

The BJP has mocked the Congress for protesting the country’s three new farm laws when the Center has clearly gone to repeal them. A bill to repeal three laws has been passed in both houses of parliament today. The president is expected to give his consent at any time.

This morning, on the first day of the winter session of Parliament, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, her son and party MP Rahul Gandhi and other party leaders chanted slogans in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi outside the Parliament building.

They carried a large banner that read, “We are demanding the repeal of the Black Farm Act.”

The BJP has termed the Congress protest as “fake”.

“If the ‘fake Gandhians’ think that they can fool the Indians by protesting in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, then they are living in Rahul’s paradise. It is the political bankruptcy of the Congress; they are already protesting against the repealed agriculture law. Tweeted in the official handle.

After nearly a year of protests by farmers, particularly in Punjab and Haryana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this month that the Center would repeal three farm laws. The bill to repeal the laws has been passed today.

However, the farmers did not withdraw their protest. They are demanding a law to ensure a minimum support price, or MSP.

Opposition parties and some peasant leaders have criticized the move for being too late. They see the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections early next year as having an impact on Prime Minister Modi’s enactment of the Farm Act. A large section of farmers in Uttar Pradesh are also protesting against the law.
