Amid speculations about cabinet expansion and organizational changes in Rajasthan, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi met state chief minister Ashok Gehlot in New Delhi on Saturday.
According to sources, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Bhadra, general secretary of the organization KC Venugopal and AICC general secretary Ajay Maken were also present at the meeting, which lasted for more than an hour at Rahul Gandhi’s Tughlaq Lane residence.
Asked about the meeting, Mr Mak Maken told reporters: “Nothing special. It was a regular meeting.”
It is learned that issues related to cabinet expansion and political appointments in Rajasthan were discussed at the meeting.
The meeting comes amid a leadership conflict between Mr Gehlot and former state deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot.
Mr Pilot has long demanded that the cabinet be expanded and that boards and corporations in the state be appointed soon. He has been demanding that Congress workers and leaders who worked closely with him for the party should be held accountable.
Mr Maken said last month that a roadmap was ready for cabinet expansion and organizational change in the state.
