On the ‘role of higher education’ for students at Rait Bahra University, he said there was an urgent need for an academy-industry interface to ensure that students who passed from universities and other institutions could get jobs when they passed.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, he told mediapersons that education should be made more affordable to prevent youth migration. Referring to the fact that education is becoming more and more expensive, he said that there is a need to set up education centers where benefits can be availed on the basis of knowledge sharing in public and private educational institutions.

Particular attention should be paid to the development of entrepreneurial skills with international exposure. Universities should, in partnership with industry leaders, introduce selected curricula in relevant fields so that they have a vision for the future and employment-driven curricula to increase the employment prospects of the graduates. The minister was accompanied by former MPs Sandeep Dixit and Srinivas.
Gurwinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of Rayat Bahra University, said that with its state-of-the-art infrastructure and strong industrial cooperation, Rayat Bahra University has attracted students not only from across the country but also from abroad.
Bahra said the university offers courses in engineering and technology, business, planning and architecture, industry and design, mass communication, sales and marketing, hospitality management, pharmacy, health sciences and education.
Dr. Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University, said that the University has set a standard by developing the human capacity inherent in the students.
