PSEB Board Papers: Schools are far from examination centers and question banks – Times of India

Ludhiana: Students of class V, VIII, X and XII of government, government aided and Punjab school education board-affiliated private schools will take part in the board examination this month. Most of the schools object that not only the examination centers but also the question banks – from which the answer sheets and question papers are collected and deposited – are located at a distance of 60 km.

For example, Government Senior Secondary School, Vaini Darera, HDFC Bank, Basti Jodhewale has its question bank 60 km away.

Government High School, Dolo Kalan, Government High School, Dad has an examination center about 16 km away. Baljinder Singh, headmaster of GHS at Dolo Kalan, said, “The test center is about 15-16 km away and we have to arrange transportation for our students. We have sent a request to the department to allocate a test center to the school. ”

An official of the education department said, “Earlier, PSEB used to send a list of examination centers and question banks to the department a month ago to check distance and other issues. But this time there are few days left and the department has not received any notification from PSEB. We are receiving complaints from the school and sending them to the board. Most students take board exams at their own center (their own school). Only schools registered in 2017 can be self-centered. ”

Some schools are complaining of other problems. 512 students will sit for the examination in a government school in Govinda Nagar. But half the power of the building can be accommodated.

PSEB examination controller JR Mehrock said, “Schools that can accommodate 135 or more students are examination centers in urban areas. We have received reports from DEO for 10th and 12th class. The buildings that are possible have been selected. Not much can be done for 10th and 12th class as there is not much time left. However, for the eighth grade, the matter can be examined as we have time. I have directed the middle branch to address the problem that schools are facing. ”

Regarding the question bank, Mehrock said, “This is an internal setup and that information cannot be shared.”

This year, the board has decided to conduct fifth, eighth, X and XII class examinations in two posts (50 marks each) for major subjects only. In the first term students will get objective type question papers. Exams for 10th class will start at 10 am and for 12th class at 2 pm. Its duration will be 1.5 hours. Candidates will have 15 minutes to read and fill out the OMR sheet. The test will be held as per the Covid-19 guidelines.

Students of both 10th and 12th classes will take Punjabi exam on 13th December Twelfth grade students have exams till 23rd December Tenth class students will take part in the examination on consecutive days as English papers are scheduled for 14th December, followed by Hindi and Urdu on 15th December for Mathematics, 17th December for Science and 18th December for SST.

For Class V and VIII, Term 1 Punjab Board Examination will be held from 20th December to 22nd December. It will be held for 8th grade from 9am to 12.15pm and for fifth grade from 9am to 10.45pm. Question papers will be conducted for six. Topics with multiple choice type questions.
