Directed by Omung Kumar, the film PM Narendra Modi was first released on May 24 last year. On the opening day, the film earned Rs 2.88 crore. Vivek Oberoi plays the titular role of PM Modi, essaying nine different looks. The movie traces PM Modi’s journey from poverty, and selling tea on a railway station to becoming the leader of the world’s largest democracy. The movie also stars Boman Irani, Manoj Joshi, Prashant Narayanan, Barkha Bisht, Rajendra Gupta and Zarina Wahab.
The movie had its share of controversies when it was initially scheduled to release in April 2019 ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission of India had then banned it citing that biopics with political content threaten level playing field.
Meanwhile, the government recently issued guidelines for the reopening of cinema halls and multiplexes from October 15. As per the new Unlock 5 guidelines, cinemas and multiplexes have been allowed to reopen with 50 percent seating capacity.
