OPSC Recruitment 2021: Recruitment of 320 Associate Professors in State Universities Begins – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa Public Service Commission (OPSC) has advertised for the appointment of associate professors in state public universities working under the Department of Higher Education. This time around 320 professors will be appointed.

For these universities it is a shortcoming that faces a lot of problems due to the shortage of faculty members. From starting research work to guiding PhD scholars, the small number of teachers has become a big issue in universities.

Eligible candidates can apply for this post in 11 universities from 23rd July to 23rd August. Registered online applications can be submitted by August 31 on the OPCC website. The minimum age limit is 21 years as of January 1 of this year, while the term age is the maximum age by default. Applications are invited for 50 positions, including English, Physics, Anthropology, Zoology, Law, Economics, Theology, Advaita Vedanta, Justice, Veda, Philosophy and Grammar.

Out of 320 associate processors, Ravenshaw University Cuttack will have the largest share (52 teachers) followed by Utkal University (44), Barhampur University (3), Rajendra University Balangir (336), Kalhandi University Bhabanipatna (32), Rama Devi Women’s University Bhubaneswar. (26), Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanj Deo University Baripad (227), Gangadhar Meher University Sambalpur (22), Sambalpur University (20), Fakir Mohan University Balasore (14) and Sri Jagannath Sanskrit University Puri (09).

OPSC has already started recruitment of Assistant Professors in 12 State Universities. “In November last year, we requested OPSC to appoint assistant professors. The process is ongoing, and we will get a new batch of assistant professors in a few months, ”said a higher education official.

Earlier the recruitment of university teachers was conducted by the concerned university. However, the state government amended the Orissa University Act in 1989 and decided to appoint teachers through OPSC.
