OPSC invites applications for recruitment of 606 college teachers – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has invited applications for recruitment of 606 college teachers in government degree colleges across the state. Group-A of Odisha Education Service (OES) (College Branch) will have Assistant Professors (Stage-I) in 20 subjects.

OPSC has come up with a detailed list of vacant posts on specific subjects. There are six vacancies in Anthropology, Botany (48), Chemistry (85), Commerce (30), Economics (40), Education (20), English (44), Environmental Science (5), Geography (10), Geology ( 8), History (30), Logic & Philosophy (10), Mathematics (63), Oriya (25), Physics (75), Political Science (10), Psychology (14), Sociology (12), Life Sciences (3) ) And zoology (68).

Out of a total of 606 vacancies, the government has reserved 16 for Scheduled Tribes, 66 for Scheduled Castes, 66 for Socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBCs), 224 for persons with disabilities and six for athletes. A candidate should not be more than 455 years of age and not less than 21 years of age. At least 55 percent marks (50 percent for SC and ST candidates) or its equivalent grade.

According to the official notification, the candidate should have passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) for the post of Assistant Professor (Stage-1) or should have obtained a PhD degree in the relevant / associate / relevant subject.

Online registration / re-registration and examination fee online payment will be available on OPSC website from 26th October to 25th November. Registered application can be submitted online on the website from 26th October to 3rd December.

The recruitment drive should have been carried out earlier, but the Covid-1 situation has watered down the Department of Higher Education’s plan to recruit teachers in degree colleges.
