After taking all precautionary measures like complete sanitation and disinfection of classrooms, laboratories, hostels as per the COVID-1 guidelines, the Department of Skill Development and Technical Education has decided to re-open the institution under administrative control for final year students.
The department has also issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Covid guidelines for taking offline classes at these institutions. According to the SOP, all chapters of the syllabus will be conducted on a regular basis, regardless of the coverage of some chapters online. “Whenever possible, physical classroom teaching will be recorded and shared with absent students,” department sources said.

According to the department’s covid prevention protocol, teachers or staff, or students living in the active containment zone will not attend university or college. Wearing a face mask or face cover will be mandatory. Institutions need to ensure frequent hand washing or hand sanitation on their premises. Spitting on campus will be strictly prohibited.
Social distances (six feet distance) will be taken in classrooms, libraries and laboratories. If necessary, crowded classes can be divided into batches and teaching time during the day can be extended. Respiratory etiquette will be strictly followed. When coughing or sneezing, one should cover his face and nose with a handkerchief, says the department’s Kovid guideline.
Educational institutions should encourage self-monitoring of health. Reporting of illness by students and staff should be mandatory. Technical institutions should have isolation rooms in all hostels so that any inmate’s illness can be reported.
Ajay Kumar Nayak, joint secretary of the department, said, “Physical activities will start from August 9 along with physical classroom education for PG, UG, Diploma and ITL courses.”
