Odisha MLA finally passes Class X board exam at age 49 – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: Orissa MLA Purna Chandra Swain has finally passed the Class X board examination at the age of 10.

Swain, a member of the ruling Biju Janata Party from Surada, passed the State Open School Certificate examination with B40 grade, getting 340 out of 500 marks. He took part in the examination at SB High School in Surad in Ganjam district.


According to his scorecard, the three-time MLA got the highest score () 5) in painting, and he got the lowest ()) in English. He got 3 in Home Science, 1 in Social Science and 1 in Oriya. Maximum number 100 for each subject.

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has announced the results of the Orissa Matriculation Examination, which was held offline last month.

Out of a total of 15,155 students, 6,596 have applied for the HSC exam, 8,493 for the State Open School Certificate exam, and 66 for the middle school exam, BSE President Ramashis Hazra said.


About 80.83 per cent candidates or 5,233 students have passed the offline exam, 141 have failed. Hajra said there are 3,100 boys and 2,133 girls among the students who have passed.

He said 2,271 students registered improvement in scores, while 959 students dropped their grades.

BSE has conducted offline examinations for students who are not satisfied with the alternative method adopted for declaring examination results.
