NSUI protests in Ministry of Education, demanding cancellation of Class 12 board exam – Times of India

New Delhi: The National Students Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest in the Ministry of Education on Friday demanding the cancellation of Class 12 board examinations in the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic. The student wing of the Congress Party said in a statement that the protesters wore PPE kits and followed the Kovid protocol, chanting “first safety, then exam” (first security, then exam).

NSUI National President Neeraj Kundan said, “A few days ago I wrote a letter to the Ministry reminding them that they have not yet come up with any guidelines or policy to ensure the safety of students under 18 and most of the students. . Are under this age. ”

He said, “The lack of planning for board exams will hurt the academic year of these students. The only way to save their academic year is to promote them by internal assessment instead of wasting more time discussing examinations now.”

NSUI demanded that the government should explore the option of exams as India is struggling with the second wave of coronavirus infection.

The NSUI said, “The government can grade students based on their past performance, assignments or classroom assessments, but risking the lives of these students is an insensitive decision.”
