Among the dental institutes, KGMU Dental Faculty is ranked fifth in India, followed by IMS-BHU at 25th, IMS-AMU at 26th, Saraswati Dental College Lucknow at 27th and ITS Dental College Hospital and Research Center at Greater Noida at 40th. 40 colleges participated.
Officials at the state’s medical education department say the achievement is inspiring but efforts are being made to further improve their performance. They said the state government is trying to encourage more medical institutes to participate in the rankings which enable capacity assessment.
A former DG Medical Education said that the improvement recorded in various medical education centers in the state is commendable but it must raise the consciousness of improvement.
“For example, SGPGI Lucknow, AIIMS is 20 points behind Delhi which got the best position. However, the institute was just three points away from third-ranked CMC Vellore. A micro-analysis can help identify gaps to drive improvement, ”he said.
