Our strength is because our language is a symbol of our cultural unity, ”Naidu said. Referring to Mahatma Gandhi’s views on language, he said that for Mahatma Gandhi, the question of language was a question of national unity.


“Even after emphasizing Hindi, Mahatma Gandhi understood the sensitivity of every citizen towards his mother tongue. Gandhiji linked the mother tongue with Swaraj and called for it to be given due importance,” he said.

He further said that Indian languages ​​have played an important role in keeping the foreign Indian community connected with motherland India, he observed.

The Vice-President said that in a civilized society it is expected that its language should be gentle, cultured and creative. “Let’s exercise our freedom of expression with the decency of language and the discipline of words,” he said.


Describing our linguistic diversity as the strength of the country, the Vice President called for strengthening this thread of unity in diversity and stressed the need for enhanced dialogue in Indian languages.

He advised the language department of the university to play an important role in this regard. He said there should be endless communication and intellectual dialogue between the language departments of the university.

The Vice President also unveiled the statue of Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution. The Vice President also inaugurated the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhavan and Chandrashekhar Azad Hostel of the University as part of its Silver Jubilee celebrations.
