NEP, implementation of 4-year UG program at UB executive council meeting on Tuesday – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The implementation of the National Education Policy, the four-year undergraduate program and the amalgamation of the College of Arts with the city government-run Ambedkar University will come up for discussion at the Delhi University Executive Council meeting on Tuesday.

The implementation of the National Education Policy from 2022-23 and the four-year graduation program were approved last week by the Standing Committee on Academic Affairs and the Academic Council.

They will come to the meeting on Tuesday for discussion and are likely to be approved. The Executive Council (EC) is the highest decision-making body of the University. The EC meeting accepted the proposals approved by the Academic Council and other meetings that were pending at the previous meeting.

The Delhi Cabinet in March decided to merge the College of Art affiliated to Delhi University (DU) with Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD).

The issue of de-affiliation of Arts College with Arts will be discussed in the meeting as per the agenda of the meeting disseminated among the members of the EC.

Establishing DU Digital Infrastructure Support for Colleges and Departments (DUDISCAD) is also a part of the agenda of the EC meeting.

DUDISCD will be involved in assisting colleges and departments in developing an internal digital infrastructure.

The university had earlier said it would set up facilities at Roshanpura in Najafgarh and Bhati Kalan in Fatehpur Beri on land provided by the Delhi government.

The centers will save students living in remote areas from long journeys to the university campus and increase support for examination and admission procedures.

The university has plans to set up a college at Fatehpur Beri for which Delhi’s first female chief minister Sushma Swaraj, Swami Vivekananda, Bir Savarkar and Sardar Patel were nominated.

At a meeting held on Tuesday last week, the Academic Council nominated five more names, including former UB student Arun Jaitley and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

“The council decided that these colleges / centers could be named after Sushma Swaraj, Swami Vivekananda, Bir Savarkar, Sardar Patel. The council also proposed the names of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Savitri Bai Phule, Arun Jaitley, Chowdhury. Brahma Prakash and CD Deshmukh. After general discussion / consultation, the Council decides that the Vice-Chancellor will be authorized to finalize the name, “read the meeting agenda.

The Vice-Chancellor formed a committee to enlist the connecting faculties in the university departments and colleges, for value addition and internationalization of academic activities, to significantly improve the teaching-learning process from their own resources to the international supporting faculty.

Discussions on the appointment of internationally affiliated faculties are also included in the agenda of Tuesday’s meeting.
