Signatories include Black Thought and Questlove of the Roots, Cypress Hill, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, Royce Da 5’9 “, Sarah Nefeld of Arcade Fire, Run the Jewels, NoNam, Serge Tankian of System of a Down, Fred Wreck ., A-Track, Rage Against the Machine, Patti Smith, Chroma, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Talib Kweli, and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd.
Palestinian and Israeli artists including Sama Abdulhadi and Ohl Grietzer also signed the letter.
Tensions turned into violence earlier this month over the possible removal of some Palestinian families from their homes in East Jerusalem.
The hostilities eventually moved to Gaza, which is ruled by Hamas.

In her letter, #MusiciansForPalestine said “silence is not an option” and called on peers to add their names to the list.
The letter stated, “We call upon you to refuse to perform in Israel’s complex cultural institutions and join you with your name to stand firmly in support of the human rights of the Palestinian people and their sovereignty and freedom.”
