Mizoram allows reopening of schools for 10, 12 classes in Aizawl civic body area – Times of India

Aizawl: The Mizoram government on Friday eased Kovid-19 bans by reopening schools and hostels in the Aizawl Municipal Corporation area for Class 10 and 12 students, an official said.

He said the new guidelines would take effect from October 31.

Under the relaxation, schools and hostels will be allowed to reopen in the AMC area for students in grades 10 and 12 who will take board exams next year, the official said. These facilities have been closed in the Civic Body area.

In coronavirus-free towns and villages outside the AMC area, physical classes have been resumed in schools for KG to 12th class students, he said, adding that the functioning of Anganwari centers has been resumed from August 15.

Other educational institutions, including colleges, have also reopened in the covid-free zone outside AMC from 5 September.

Worship places will remain open in all parts of the state, and now day and night worship services with 50 percent capacity are allowed, while morning and evening prayers are also allowed, the guidelines said.

However, church services in churches are now allowed during the day in all parts of the state, it says.

At this time, the guidelines did not specify a specific date on which churches would remain open for church services.

Earlier, they were allowed only on Sundays and Saturdays.

In areas outside the AMC jurisdiction, deputy commissioners will issue guidelines depending on the COVID-19 situation in their respective areas, it said.

However, villages and towns were allowed to reopen educational institutions under the system of the concerned deputy commissioner in consultation with the district level officials of the health department and the village task force, the guidelines said.

It said that SOPs prepared by the concerned departments need to be strictly followed.

Night curfew will continue in all district headquarters including Aizawl, the state capital, from 9 pm to 4 am.

According to the recommendations of the state-level expert team in Covid-19 management, the deputy commissioners will declare micro containment zones and other restrictions within their districts depending on the local situation, the guidelines added.
