He reiterated that he did not make any mistakes or put any kind of pressure on the student. Research scholar Deepa Mohan, who belongs to the Scheduled Caste community, complained that she has been facing caste-based harassment since Kalikal and has been protesting at the university for almost two weeks.

The university said in a statement last week that Vice-Chancellor Sabu Thomas had removed Calicol from office and taken over because he was also a nanoscientist.

However, Mohan complained that the move against the professor was “just an eye wash” and his demand to dismiss him from the university was not met.

Opposition leader Vidyasathisan also raised the issue in the assembly on Monday that Deepa was facing many obstacles in pursuing her higher education.

“He has suffered a lot and at one point he even had to go to court to be admitted to the laboratory. He has been going through a lot of human rights violations and has spent six years so far in all these struggles and the government should intervene to help him,” Satisan said.

Satisan, SC / ST and Devsom Minister, K. Radhakrishnan, Minister of Higher Education, R. Replying to Bindhu, he said that Deepa Mohan’s term for research has expired in 2019

“But the university allowed him to continue his research. At the same time, allegations were made against Kalarikal. The higher education minister was involved and Kalirikal was removed from office, but he is pushing for his dismissal. Such things are only in accordance with university rules.” Can be done, ”Radhakrishnan said.

Mohan further said that despite qualifying for the GATE exam, he was initially denied admission to a PhD course in the Department of Nano Science and Technology. He further said that he successfully passed his MPhil course in 2012 but his certificate was not published till 2015.
