On Monday, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, however, accused the BJP government of compromising the quality of the Eastern Expressway by reducing the cost of the project and inaugurating it before the assembly elections to claim credit.
“To make it cheaper, a compromise has been made with its quality. To take credit before the vote, the BJP is going to inaugurate the half-finished Eastern Expressway. There is a compromise with the standard by which it should have been built.” The SP chief told reporters.
He said the foundation stone of the expressway was laid during his party’s tenure. Pointing to the quality of work on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, he said some parts of it had been submerged in the recent rains. “If you were traveling on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, you would feel that the tea would not spill. Drive at a speed of 100 kmph,” he said.
Yadav further said that if SP comes to power, it will create a market next to the expressway and provide all the facilities.
Yadav added, “The Samajwadi Party will lay flowers to inaugurate it in a symbolic manner on November 16. Soon the SP will have a program to move on the expressway.”
