Asian Pacific American students face a variety of problems due to the diversity of socio-economic backgrounds and the current established cultural stereotypes that affect the performance and experience of college students.

With additional cultural-based pressure from family to fulfill financial responsibilities, APA students are caught up in their social and academic performance as well as study preferences. Asian Pacific American student launches a program to meet McDonald’s diverse needs “APA next, ”Designed to help Asian-American students achieve their educational goals.

The goal of the new initiative is to empower and improve students throughout their educational journey by providing them with tools and resources to help them succeed. The APA Next website will feature student and family-centered development resources, including:

Content series: As part of this series, notable APA concerned leaders provide feeling-good inspiration, sharing their life experiences and advice with students. The opportunity to share real problems and real life gives students the confidence to feel less alone and to deal with stress and social stress.

Workshop: The workshop includes seminars and conversations led by education professionals to help students and families navigate the college admissions process from the comfort of their own homes.

Scholarship: With McDonald’s partners APIA Scholar Eligible Asian Pacific American candidates must be assisted through their respective colleges or universities to receive a 1-year or 4-year scholarship. Scholarship applications are open from September 2021 to January 2022 and will be announced in September 2022 before the new term begins.

Mentorship Program: Through this program, APA NEXT allows students to connect with professionals in their field of interest, sharing information, knowledge and experiences. Mentees get career advice, advance their careers to learn critical knowledge and skills. Mentors contribute to the development of mentors’ careers while strengthening their leadership and communication skills.

  • Many students start thinking about career prospects when their interest is ignited by a high school. This is the time to start meeting and talking with professionals in your areas of interest. These first contacts can be important to help you navigate the terrain as you move into your career.
