NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday to assess the damage caused by the Kalakunda cyclone Yas.
During the meeting, Mamta Banerjee submitted a preliminary report on the damage done to PM Modi.
The news agency ANI quoted sources as saying that Mamta and the Chief Secretary of Bengal arrived late for the review meeting despite being in the same premises.
On entering the review meeting, the Chief Minister of West Bengal handed over papers related to the cyclone effect and said that other meetings were lined up and abandoned.
Meanwhile, Mamta said that she met the Prime Minister and submitted a disaster report and apprised him of the post-cyclone situation in West Bengal.
“After having a review meeting in Hingalganj and Sagar, I met the PM in Kalaikunda and apprised him of the post-cyclone situation in Bengal. The disaster report has been submitted for his observation. I am now going to review the relief and restoration I have moved on. Let’s work in Digha, “she said on Twitter.
Earlier today, PM Modi in a meeting here reviewed the post-cyclone situation and the damage caused by cyclone Yas in the state, where the Odisha government has taken measures to reduce the problems of recurrent cyclones and create disaster resistant power systems.
