New Delhi: The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will work in separate shifts every five hours during the budget session of Parliament starting January 31.
The changes, announced in light of the new wave in the Covid case, will begin shortly after the president delivers a joint speech in both houses on January 31. On February 1, the Lok Sabha will meet at 11 a.m. to present the central budget . From February 2 to 11, in the first half of the budget session, the lower house will sit from 4 to 9 pm, while the Rajya Sabha will work in the morning, probably from 9 am to 2 pm.
The LS and RS chambers and galleries will be used to seat members with physical distance rules, the Lok Sabha bulletin issued on Monday said. So far, the dates for the first half of the budget session have been announced During the month-long suspension, the standing committees will examine the grant claims raised by various ministries and departments. The two chambers will meet again on March 14 and the budget session is expected to end on April 8. Shift seating for both chambers was introduced in the monsoon session of Parliament in 2020, with the RS meeting in the first half of the day and the LS meeting in the second half.
The same procedure was followed for the first part of the 2021 budget session.
Houses have returned to their original time since the second part of the 2021 budget session.
