An Indian businessman based in the United Arab Emirates once had a lifelong experience when he had the opportunity to travel on an Air India flight as the only passenger, of course. “Maharaja“(King)

SP Singh Oberoi, a ten-year-old gold visa holder from the United Arab Emirates, flew from Amritsar in Punjab to Dubai on Wednesday on an Air India flight, according to a report by the agency ANI. He was the only passenger on the plane in addition to the crew.

The UAE’s “golden” visa system allows 10 years of residence in the Gulf state for certain professional and prominent global personalities.

According to his social media profile, Mr. Oberoi is the President of the Asian Gatka Foundation and the Founder and Chairman of the Apex Group of Companies, the Managing Trustee and Chairman of the Sarbat Da Vala Trust.

“I felt like a Maharaja (King) During my trip, ”he told ANI after a three-hour flight.

Air traffic between India and the UAE was suspended for the public from April 24 due to the spike in the COVID-19 case during the second coronavirus wave. However, UAE officials have allowed diplomats, gold visa holders and emirates to travel from India under the travel ban, a report said.

An ANI report said Mr Oberoi had previously been denied permission to fly but was later allowed to do so following the intervention of aviation ministry officials. He said he had all relevant travel documents, including vaccine proof, approved by the UAE.

Mr Oberoi thanked the UAE and the Government of India for the “memorable” journey.

“Sometimes we get a chance to nurture life in important situations. We appreciate the UAE and the Government of India for making this a memorable journey, thank Air India for the special services, you made a great trip one by one,” he said on Facebook.

Air India had earlier announced that it would start flying to the public from today, however, the day before it tweeted: “Flights to Dubai are being operated on schedule due to travel restrictions implemented by the UAE government. Please plan your trip before Confirm your eligibility for entry into the UAE. “
