Lakshadweep rules: Protesters observe ‘Black Day’ online | India News – Times of India

Kochi: Social media activists behind the Lakshadweep Bachao Abhiyan celebrated Sunday as a black day and supporters turned their profile pictures into a black icon. Campaigners used hashtags including # TogetherWith-Lakshadweep, #RecallAdministrator, #SaveLakshadweep, etc. to protest against the administration’s recent controversial decisions.
The campaigners had called for a Twitter storm against the administration’s action and mass mailing to the President of India from 4 pm to 9 pm. On May 30, many people on Twitter had read their profile picture changed to a black image, reading Black Day.
The protests are against the administration’s action, including some draft rules that are to be implemented in the islands.
Meanwhile, CPI (M) Rajya Sabha MP Elaram Karim tweeted that the administration has asked him to postpone his visit to Lakshadweep citing the epidemic.
“A delegation of CPM MPs from Kerala has decided to visit Lakshadweep to understand the current situation. Today, ADM informed us to plan the proposed trip at a later date, given Kovid’s situation. They wanted to delay our journey and avoid the world knowing the ground reality. ”
SFI’s All India President VP Sanu accused the administration of dishonesty.
