KIIT ranks at 2021 in self-financing organization – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: The Center on Wednesday announced the steady ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2021. Considered as KIIT University, Bhubaneswar has achieved rank 1 among the country’s self-financing / non-government institutions in this ranking structure.

ARIIA is a joint venture between the Ministry of Education and the All-India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) to systematically place higher education institutions in India on parameters such as patent filing and granting, number of registered students and faculty start-ups, fundraising. By incubated start-ups, specialized infrastructure created by the organization to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.

Rankings have been announced in nine separate categories including Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, State Universities, State Independent Technical Colleges, Private Universities, Private Independent Technical Colleges, Non-Technical Government and Private Universities and Institutions. Apart from KIIT, no other institution has been ranked in the top 10 educational institutions of the country in these nine categories of ARIIA 2021.

IIT Bhubaneswar has been ranked in the ‘Band-Performer’ column in the Institute of National Importance and Central University / Centrally Financial Technical Institution (Technical). Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology has been ranked in the ‘Band-Excellent’ column in the Department of Private Universities.

Similarly, Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM) and CV Raman are ranked in the Band-Performer column in the Private University (Technical) category of the Global University Rankings. Sri Sri University and a few other institutions have been mentioned in various bands of ARIIA.


KIIT official sources said that it has topped this prestigious ranking due to its innovation and collaboration with entrepreneurship centers, advanced laboratories, centers of excellence, industry and international organizations.

Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT and KISS, congratulated all the staff and students of the organization and said that they have achieved the top spot for the second time in a row. It has proven excellence in research and innovation, he added.

Union Minister of State for Education Subhash Sarkar announced the rankings in the presence of AICTE Chairman Anil D Sahasrabudh. IIT Madras has been recognized as the most innovative educational institution in the country.
