Beda Shibu said, “I wanted to join this school because it is different. I want to be an army doctor.”
“I love that this school had a lot of sports and physical activity. I want to be an Army Medical Officer. I am very happy to be able to join the military school. All the credit goes to my father, mother and my teachers.”
Meanwhile, the faculty is excited to welcome the girls for the first time.
“For the first time, our girls are coming here. We are admitting sixth graders. There is no change in the routine. The classes will merge with the boys. A new dormitory has been built for them,” said Dr Maha Mahadevan Nair, a faculty member at the school.
“It’s a matter of great pride for all of us,” said Dr. Fac Vivek K, another faculty member.
Wing Commander Alka Chowdhury, who is the vice principal of Sainik School, greeted the girls.
“It is a matter of great pride and honor that the reputed schools that were preparing boys for the security forces will now also prepare girls,” he said.
For the first time in history, the state’s only soldier school, the Soldier School Kazakutam (SSKZM), has admitted a batch of girl cadets.
Principal Colonel Dhirendra Kumar said, “Sainik School Kazakutam has given entry to girls cadets from the academic session this year.
