j&k: LPG Gas Pipeline for J&K to be given top priority: Union minister Puri | India News – Times of India

Jammu: Referring to further development of Jammu and Kashmir, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Thursday said that the Jammu and Kashmir Metrorail project would be approved within the next week. He said the government would also give top priority to the demand for LPG gas pipelines.
The minister was speaking to reporters during his visit to Jammu as part of an ongoing ‘public outreach program’ in Jammu and Kashmir.
The minister said many projects under the present government are reaching their saturation point. He mentioned that the Prime Minister’s Ujjwala Yojana which has so far provided 80 million LPG connections.
Referring to the J&K-Bhatinda gas pipeline project, Singh said, “We currently have 19,000 km of gas pipeline and it is likely to be extended to 35,000 km, meaning an additional 16,000 km will be added and J&K will be given priority.”
“Since the repeal of Article 0, the development projects that have been closed for years at J&K have been taken up and many have been completed in recent years. Development work has gained momentum and is now completed within a time frame at J&K.
