Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir): A girl from a remote village in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir has been selected for training in the Indian Air Force (IAF) branch to provide short service commission in the AE (L) branch.

Tahira Rehman, a resident of Khodbani village in Khawas tehsil, 155 km from Rajouri district, is the daughter of former honorary captain Abdul Rehman.

She is the first Gujarat girl from Jammu and Kashmir to be selected as a Flying Officer in the Indian Air Force. He is the second in Rajouri district after Maya Sudan, a flying officer from Lumberi village.

His cousin Irshad Begum said, “This is the most backward area in Rajouri district. We have no school in our village and we have to travel long distances for education. Her mother used to take her to school till 5th class. She always wanted to be a pilot in Indian Air Force.” And today she has fulfilled her dream. She is the first girl in the Gujar community to do so. ”

He added that locals from all communities are celebrating his achievements. “They reached the top of a four-kilometer hill to be part of this celebration,” he added.

Local resident Liaquat Ali said it was a very proud moment for their village and everyone was very happy.

Another local resident said they are happy that the area is very backward and it is a big achievement for the people there.

“I am very proud today. My daughter had to walk four to five km every day to reach school till 5th class. My daughter is the first girl in our community to become a flying officer from Rajouri district to Jammu and Kashmir.” Her father.

Shivangi Kant, Child Protection Law Officer, Rajouri District, said it was a moment of great pride for the entire district and the country.

“Today, boys and girls are moving forward equally and making the nation proud. Being a pilot is not uncommon, especially for backward village girls.
