The bench in its order said that the representation should be decided quickly, especially before the last date of submission of JEE (Advanced) 2021 application.

“We are not expressing one or the other opinion on the validity of the claim made in the present application,” it said, adding that “all questions of law are open.”
The apex court was hearing an application filed by five students who passed Class XII examinations in 201 petition-1 academic year and said that as per the criteria laid down in the 2021 data brochure, JEE (Advanced) 2020 was their final endeavor to secure admission in institutions of excellence like IIT.
Applicants stated that they had passed the JEE Main exam in 2021 but were saddened by a section of the brochure requiring candidates to take the exam within two years of completing their 10 + 2 or equivalent test, although the age limit is 25 years.
They sought the Supreme Court’s directive that the disqualification prescribed in Criteria 4 of Section 11 of the Information Brochure as it declares candidates who have passed Class XII in 2019 ineligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2021, even after qualifying in JEE Mains, Article 14 “Arbitrary and Violators”.
The petition, filed through Advocate Sumant Nukala, seeks directions from the applicants and those who have qualified JEE Main 2021 in the third attempt to direct the concerned authorities to participate in the scheduled JEE (Advanced) examination at a later date. The month as a “fair and just opportunity”.
Applicants registered and appeared for the JEE (Advanced) exam held in September last year, but did not perform well due to severe disruption in preparation due to the Covid-1 pandemic epidemic and other nationwide lockdowns, the application said.
