Kolkata: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar will attend a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to review the devastation caused by the cyclone Yas. The officers provided this information.
He said that after the aerial survey of the affected areas by Prime Minister Modi, a meeting is going to be held on Friday afternoon at Kalai Kunda in West Medinipur district.
Officials said that Dhankhar would receive the Prime Minister at the Kalai Kunda Air Force Station.
“West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankad will receive PM Narendra Modi at Kalaikunda Air Force Station on May 28. PM will visit #CycloneYass affected areas in West Bengal to assess loss of life and material. Governor Dhankar along with state government PM will attend the review meeting, ”the governor tweeted.
Banerjee will also conduct an aerial survey of the affected areas during the day.
The Chief Minister has described the loss of West Bengal to Rs 15,000 crore due to cyclone Yas.
Announcing a relief package of Rs 1,000 crore, he said that his government would run a Duran Tran program for the affected people.
It has also ordered an investigation by the Finance Department into the collapse of several embankments, bridges and roads built after Super Cyclone Amfan entered the state in May last year.
