India speedster Shami receives first dose of Covid-19 vaccine | Off the field News – Times of India

Mumbai: India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami received his first dose of the Kovid-19 vaccine during the team’s quarantine ahead of the UK tour on Thursday.
The right-arm fast bowler has been serving a 14-day quarantine here before the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton from 16 June and a subsequent five-match series in England.
Shami tweeted with her photo of the jab, “I got my first dose of vaccine. I urge everyone to get vaccinated and be safe. # Mshami11 #saddapunjab #TeamIndia # Covid_19 #vaccine #india.”

Head coach Ravi Shastri was the first person in the Indian cricket team to receive the vaccine. They were first introduced in the first week of March when vaccination was started for more than 45 individuals.
Then many of Shami’s teammates, including captain Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Jaspreet Bumrah and Rishabh Pant, made the first use of the Kovid 19 vaccine at various centers in the country. Players are expected to take their second dose of Kovishield in the UK.
