The number of research projects and funds sponsored for IIT Mandi has increased significantly in 2021, the institute said in a statement.

The total number of projects approved in 2021 is 32, with the sanctioned amount exceeding Tk. 14.41 crore. In addition, 45 research scholars have graduated this year.

Talking about the growth of IIT Mandi in the last one year, Chaturvedi said: “Despite the challenging times, IIT Mandi has shown significant growth in the development of infrastructure as well as new academic programs last year.

“This year, IIT Mandio has received 308 acres of land after clearance from the Forest Department. In addition, we have reached the number of 134 faculties. With this growth trajectory, we welcome the new year with renewed vigor and enthusiasm to contribute to the development of the Himalayan region and India as a whole. ”

To promote entrepreneurial culture in the Himalayan region, IIT Mandi Technology Business Incubator, Catalyst, has organized “HST Startup Grand Challenge” – a start-up pitch competition with cash prizes of up to Rs 5 lakh and financing up to Rs 50 lakh.

Notably, IIT Mandi Catalyst has supported more than 160 start-ups across sectors such as Clean Energy, Healthcare, Enterprise Management, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Biotech, Education and Consumer Internet in its short journey.

Catalyst has hosted more than 100 events so far. Further, the funding needs of start-ups at an early stage are also met through funding projects hosted on Catalyst. Catalyst, to date, has distributed or pledged more than Rs 6 crore to startups for prototyping and commercialization purposes.

Industry Connect and International Collaboration are two important aspects of the IIT market’s engagement with the wider world.

The Institute hosted a first-of-its-kind international discussion on Technology Preparation for High Volume Chip Manufacturing (FAB) 2021 (ICTFAB-2021) with Dr. VK Saraswat, Member Policy Commission, GOI as the Chief Guest.

The international event facilitates the installation of advanced semiconductor FAB facilities in India, and helps the Indian semiconductor industry develop its ecosystem to enable it to meet the country’s demand and participate as a globally competitive entity for comprehensive electronics system design and production.

Recently, IIT Mandi has collaborated with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bilaspur in research and academic activities. The two organizations have signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct joint research activities and academic exchange activities.
