CHENNAI: The IIT-Madras placement season for 2021-22 started with a bang as students received 176 job offers, including 11 international offers, in the first session of 1 day on Wednesday. This is the highest number of placements in the first session on the first day. A total of 34 companies participated in the first session.

Last year, in the first session, 22 companies made 123 offers (1.1).

Leading employers at this year’s first session include Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Bajaj Auto, Bain & Company, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Boston Consulting Group, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and McKinsey.

Students received 231 pre-placement offers between 2021-22.

IIT-Madras Advisor (Placement and Training) CS Shankar Ram hopes that in the next few days they will continue to place more students in jobs that fulfill their ambitions.

The second slot of day 1 placement (Session 1.2) is being held on Wednesday from 4pm to midnight. In total, 32 companies are hiring for 68 profiles. These companies include Amazon, Groww, Flipkart, Intel, Samsung and Twitter.

The first phase of the placement is expected to run until December 10.

A total of 1,498 students have registered for recruitment in various streams of study in 2021-22. The total number of companies registered for recruitment in the first phase is 382. They will recruit for a total of 738 profiles.

Texas Instruments – 15 offers

Bajaj Auto Limited – 15 offers

Goldman Sachs-10 offer

Bain & Company – 10 offers
