IIT-Guwahati will collaborate with the University of Coimbatore on academic, research programs – Times of India

Guwahati: The Indian Institute of Guwahati (IIT-G) on Monday said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with a private, recognized university based in Coimbatore to enrich the academic program and encourage student exchange between the two institutions.

MIU has recently signed the agreement with Prof. G. Sitaram, Director, IIT-G and Dr. Venkata Rangana, Vice-Chancellor, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeeth (AVV).

Highlighting various aspects of this partnership, Professor Sitaram said, “With the emergence of many new inter-departmental research and academic centers at IIT-Guwahati equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, the Institute will additionally serve the country.


“This collaboration will help both institutions reach new heights in research and academics.”

IIT-G and AVV will encourage collaboration between their faculty members, departments and research centers, including giving lectures to faculty members, conducting seminars, discussions, research and supervising students ’studies.

“This is a historic moment for both organizations, who strive for excellence in teaching and research, coming together in a perfect public-private partnership,” said AVV Vice-Chancellor.


IIT-G, founded in 1994, is equipped with world-class infrastructure and a ranking of 41 global research.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeeth, which was declared as a “University by UGC” in 200 Universities, is ranked fourth by the Government of India’s National Institutional King Ranking Framework and UOC (Institution of Eminence) status in the University Department in 2019.
