Popular in the heels of the menswear show, Paris Hut Couture Fashion Week opens today with a four-day schedule of events, including a combination of livestream and physical shows.

Dyer, Chanel and Zuhair Murad are among the privately hosted homes this season.

Balesiagao is set to join the schedule this week, presenting a garbage collection for the first time in more than 50 years.

Meanwhile, New York-based label Pierre Moss will make history when brand founder and creative head Karbi Jan-Raymond becomes the first black American designer to present at Paris Hut Couture Week. Her show – the day before Irvington was staged at Madame CJ Walker’s former home in New York – the show will close via livestream Paris local time on Friday evening.

Born in 1867, Walker was a self-made black entrepreneur and social worker. She achieved her fortune by creating a line of hairstyles and beauty products for black women.

Sheeprily will be the first brand to present its new collection via digital video on Monday. Other brand new collection releases include Iris Van Harpen, Giorgio Armani and Fendi.

Couture is considered the highest category of high fashion. One-of-a-kind garments are made by handicrafts by skilled craftsmen, with some pieces taking weeks or even months to complete. Couture fashion shows are held twice a year in January and July. Gowns first seen on the runway are often seen later at red carpet events, including the Oscars.
